thoughts on 2 movies
Feb. 12th, 2005 11:13 pmSo, I saw Hero yesterday and Enter the Dragon today. I'm just listing some random thoughts on these 2 movies.
in conclusion, funk is best for kung-fu.
- Funk, is the best music to accompany kung-fu with. (Although the fantasy like orchestra east/west classical music is cool too)
- A Kung-fu movie with a plot is rare.
- Weapons are cool. Wires are not
- I mean, the hong-kong style kung-fu movie defies the laws of physics and confuses people.
- Not that defying the laws of physics is a sin, but it kinda sets a bad example. I mean, people subconsciously expect to reach superhuman levels from a few years of practice, and instead at disapointed. Whereas Bruce Lee style, he trained his whole life, and he's not super human, just frickin super cool.
- The only thing wrong with bruce lee movie is the plot holes. I mean, the only reason he survives is because his arch-enemies don't use piercing weapons or they aren't allowed to have guns around.
- lack of pure technique in hero, too much fluff, too rehearsed.
- but then agan bruce lee fights weren't perfect either, but at least pure in intention.
- nun-chucks are cool
- light swords are cool, but over romanticized
- I was a lil sad when the black guy died first. I mean, I was expecting something cool from him. weird.
in conclusion, funk is best for kung-fu.
