So, I saw Hero yesterday and Enter the Dragon today. I'm just listing some random thoughts on these 2 movies.

  1. Funk, is the best music to accompany kung-fu with. (Although the fantasy like orchestra east/west classical music is cool too)
  2. A Kung-fu movie with a plot is rare.
  3. Weapons are cool. Wires are not
  4. I mean, the hong-kong style kung-fu movie defies the laws of physics and confuses people.
  5. Not that defying the laws of physics is a sin, but it kinda sets a bad example. I mean, people subconsciously expect to reach superhuman levels from a few years of practice, and instead at disapointed. Whereas Bruce Lee style, he trained his whole life, and he's not super human, just frickin super cool.
  6. The only thing wrong with bruce lee movie is the plot holes. I mean, the only reason he survives is because his arch-enemies don't use piercing weapons or they aren't allowed to have guns around.
  7. lack of pure technique in hero, too much fluff, too rehearsed.
  8. but then agan bruce lee fights weren't perfect either, but at least pure in intention.
  9. nun-chucks are cool
  10. light swords are cool, but over romanticized
  11. I was a lil sad when the black guy died first. I mean, I was expecting something cool from him. weird.

in conclusion, funk is best for kung-fu.
